To promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation - one individual, one community at a time.

- Orléans, France 16 August 1944 (unofficial) 1974 through Sister Cities International
- Tlalnepantla, Mexico 16 October 1973
- Cancun, Mexico 25 November 1975
- Kaifeng, China 3 December 1985
Purpose
Wichita Area Sister Cities (WASC) pursues exchanges with its sister cities in the following areas of interest:
- Diplomatic – Mayor and City Council delegation visits
- Cultural – group and individual exchanges
- Educational – university programs for language development
- Professional – ballet, music, chef, etc.
- Tourism – group and individuals
- Economic – searching business opportunities
To cultivate interest in our sister cities, the following events are held locally:
- International Student Day – January (annual)
- Chinese New Year event – February (annual)
- WWII Veteran and Jeanne d’Arc Commemoration – May (annual)
- Multicultural event – June 2009
- Bastille Day event – July (annual)
- Festival de Loire trip – Sept. 18-27, 2009
- Chinese dinner/movie event – as scheduled
- French dinner/movie event “Entre Nous” – as scheduled
- Mexican dinner/movie event – as scheduled
